Merry Christmas – Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan (Cantonese) Christians in China decorate trees with ornaments made from paper in the shapes of flowers, chains and lanterns. The children hang muslin stockings. The Chinese Christmas Trees are called ‘trees of light’ and Father Christmas is ‘Dun Che Lao Ren’ which means ‘Christmas Old Man’. Non-Christian Chinese call
this the Spring Festival and celebrate with many festivities that include
delicious meals and paying respects to the ancestors. Children are the
main focus of these celebrations and they receive new clothes and toys
and watch firecracker displays. |
