'House For Duty Mission Priest'The Anglican Church have something called "House for Duty" which means that an ordained person comes to live somewhere that has a 'spare' house and in return works a couple of days a week, plus
services on a Sunday, in the Parish. The Bishop of Bradford has appointed The Revd Christine Low as House for Duty Mission Priest for the Bingley Cluster with particular responsibility for the new residential areas locally. She will move into the Eldwick Vicarage with her husband, John, in early July and is keen to work with the members of all the churches

A Potted Biography of Rev Chris Low

Chris originally trained as an infant teacher but has taught all age groups from
under fives to adults. She was an English teacher at a comprehensive school in N Devon prior to ordination. Ordained in the diocese of Exeter and served her title in the Torridge Estuary Team Ministry based around Bideford in N Devon where she was involved particularly in Youth and children's ministry and the development of healing teams.
For the past 5 years Chris has been priest-in-charge of two small parishes;
Thornton-in-Lonsdale and Burton-in-Lonsdale in the Ewecross Deanery in the north of the diocese of Bradford. One third of her time has been given to the role of Deanery Networker for Ministry to Children and Young People.
Throughout her ministry Chris has worked ecumenically and forged strong links with churches of other denominations and is looking forward to continuing to do so in her new appointment.
Chris and John  have a strong commitment to the healing ministry, in which they have both been involved for about thirty years.   They are members of The Order Of St Luke The Physician, an ecumenical and international healing order of which Chris is a chaplain.   They both serve on the Order's national council.

As some of you may be aware the Water Companies are ignoring churches charities status and starting to charge churches for the amount of area (ie. roofs and car parks) that will collect rainwater and discharge it into the sewer network. This will effectively raise most Churches water bills by hundreds if not thousands of pounds. The above is an online petition that you can register on. Please register and pass the details onto anyone else you think will sign it.
