Playgroup For the younger members of the Eldwick community playgroup meets to assist learning through play.

The Friday Footsteps walking group meet on the second Friday of each month for a ramble around the beautiful countryside in Yorkshire. We take it in turns to map out and lead a walk, usually about 5-6 miles long.

If you wish to join the group, please contact Mr and Mrs C Richards on 563079.

On the 10th August, we made a special trip to the home of Kath Bridgeford, who now lives in Dunnington near York. She still enjoys visiting us here and walking with the group, and so extended an invitation to visit her. After coffee, she lead us on a walk around the farms and cornfields and woods near her home. We enjoyed looking around the Methodist church, and had a hearty meal in the village before making our way home. The weather had been very kind, and we all had had a really enjoyable day out.
Winter Walk.
Well, we nearly didn’t set off. What terrible weather we have been having. The worst gales in 17 years. Undaunted, 13 walkers left Eldwick Methodist Church bound for Burley in Wharfedale station, on Saturday, 20th January. We only had a few showers, but certainly didn’t get soaked, and the wind was chilly, but not too strong, even on top of the moors. The views were excellent, including the rainbow. MUD, not too bad considering the amount of rainfall over the last few weeks. In all, we had a very pleasant walk, led by Jeff Brodrick. When we got back to Church, we were greeted by a warming smile from Debbie Ashton, and some delicious home made soup and bread to warm the cockles. Thank you to all.
